History of ICGC

History of ICGC

The issue at hand is about how to balance the wellbeing of humanity, including consumption patterns, and staying within the sustainable and boundary conditions of our planet. Present Engineers and Scientists look back to the dawn of human civilization and follow their research methodology of utilizing the natural materials due to global warming occurring from Greenhouse Gases emissions such as carbon dioxide and methane. Perhaps Petroleum-based plastic products are posing problems to the ecosystem. Sustainability based on the principles of People, Planet and Prosperity for all, industrial ecology, eco-efficiency, and green chemistry are guiding the development of the next generation of materials, products, and processes. These bio-friendly materials originate from renewable resources and have been necessary challenging the research in every aspect of petroleum-based plastic products, as they are environment-friendly, nontoxic, biodegradable, and easily modifiable both physically and chemically. However these bio-friendly materials should demonstrate their merits, benefits and advantages on their own. Therefore attention is equally required to understanding human behavior, lifestyles choices and policy development. Much more is needed than technology alone. From the background mentioned above, the JSMS (The Society of Materials Science, Japan) Committee on Composite Materials started the International Workshop on Green Composites (IWGC) on 2002. Later on 2014 the name has been changed from International Workshop on Green Composites to International Conference on Green Composites. The details as mentioned in the below table.
